Parent Support

FAMILIES  MATTER

It is equally hard to be a parent or a young person.

Families Matter is not a course to judge or preach, it is designed to help and support parents and young people with everyday challenges.  The course is totally confidential and is aimed at supporting you, so that you can continue to support us and we can all support your child at school.  It is informal and very relaxed in approach.

Families Matter aims to strengthen families, to build positive relationships between parents/carers, young people and school, and help them to feel clearer and stronger, so that they can take action to improve what is happening in their home, school and community.   Joining our Families Matter sessions will reassure you that you are not alone.   Sometimes just having a little support, advice or someone to bounce ideas off can be a massive help.

The course previously known as “Family Matters” has been very popular and many families have benefited and enjoyed attending.  It is not a quick fix and families are welcome attend to more than one session.

Feedback has been very positive, with the following quotes from parents:-

“Your relaxed, open, straightforward and at times fun approach has helped make it an extremely positive, yet eye opening experience and I couldn’t recommend the course highly enough to others faced with problems, or who have similar issues as myself and the other group members.”

“I feel it helped me know that I wasn’t alone and that others were having the same problems as me.  It has helped me understand how my child feels.”

“It has helped with communication and positive thinking.”

Courses are run for a minimum of eight weeks, Friday mornings, 9.15am - 11.15am at The Salvation Army, Balmoral Road, Morecambe.  There is also an opportunity to attend on a Tuesday evening.
